Lync's Bench
A special bench from Tom
Tom Gould has been Lee’s best friend since they were around seven years old, a friendship of almost 32 years.
A couple of months after Lync passed away, Tom gave our family something we will treasure forever. He spent just over a month building this beautiful bench in the Isle of Man, keeping it all a secret before arranging for it to be shipped and delivered to our home.
Every detail reflects the love, care and time Tom put into it. He did everything off his own back, wanting nothing in return, simply to give our family somewhere special to feel close to Lync. That says so much about the friend Tom is to us.
The bench has become somewhere we sit when we want to talk to Lync, have a cry or spend a quiet moment with him. His brothers, Nate and Crew, love sitting there and speaking to him too, and those moments mean so much to us.
Tom will probably never fully know how much his gift warmed our hearts when it arrived, or how much comfort it still brings us today. It is a truly special part of our home, made by someone who holds a very special place in our family’s hearts.
Lync's Tree
A gift from Jarvo and Chloe.
Jarvo's words
What can you do to ease the pain of someone who has lost their 2-year-old child? Nothing. No amount of words or gifts can take away or ease that pain. But I believe that something thoughtful can still mean something and give a little bit of comfort.
I wanted to plant something living in memory of Lync, something that Lee, Genna, Nate, Crew, the rest of the family and close friends can watch grow and flourish over the years. After doing a lot of research, I chose a Betula pendula because it is a fast-growing and hardy tree that should grow a great proportion within our lifetime. My thought was that, as the tree grows, it will always be there as a living memory of Lync, somewhere for everyone to go, spend time, remember him and hopefully find some small amount of comfort in being there.
I know a tree can never take away the pain or fill the space that Lync has left behind, but I wanted to give something that would live on, grow with us and always give us somewhere to go and feel close to him.
Kind gestures
A place to share the lovely things people do for Lync. More stories are on their way.
Natalie's Christmas tree
Every year, Natalie creates the most beautiful Christmas tree for us, purely out of the kindness of her heart, and it's honestly become the highlight of our Christmas. She doesn't even take any credit: she tells the boys our naughty elf, Frank, has put it there for us 😂🎄
That's just the kind of person she is. So thoughtful and caring, always finding ways to make things special for our family. Natalie and her family are such special people in our lives, and we're so lucky to call them our friends 💙
